Protosaber

Aside from the Forcesaber, there was another weapon known as the precursor to the modern day Lightsaber. Known as the Protosaber or the Archaic Lightsaber, the Protosaber utilized the concepts of focusing crystals in the hilt. Though this and it's modern counterpart are similar, the main difference was that the modern day weapon used a Diatium power cell and the Protosaber used a larger power pack connected to the hilt by a cord to produce the energy needed for the weapon to function. It was also limited in telekinetic lightsaber combat due to it's cord and had a limited power life. Once the First Blade came about, the Protosaber became obsolete like the Forcesabers. The weapon however would be upgraded by users who preferred this over the modern day variant.
